Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus: Synkka tuuli
01/06/13 || Cobal
Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus are an act from the States that blend ambient music with raw black metal. Their latest work, “Synkka Tuuli”, makes interesting listening by switching from one genre to the other. Personally, I liked the ambient parts better than the metal ones as I believe they were better thought out. I’d say black metal’s purpose here is rather to appear every now and then and perk things up after some minutes of relaxing —not boring— music. All in all, I can’t say I wasn’t amused by listening to this, although it’s far from being a masterpiece or something. Moreover and now that I think of it, the appeal of “Synkka Tuuli” might lie precisely on its amateur vibe. If I were to recommend any track above the others, it would be “Ketamiini” for its the one in which both genres were actually fusioned, and it is definitely the climax of the album. Cheers.
7/10: Cold, cold music that still needs to be perfected.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
